Too Much Wine(house)

If I never, EVER hear about Amy Winehouse again, I'd be a lot happier. Yesterday I uttered the phrase "if I ever see or hear the name Amy Winehouse again, shoot me". After that I saw her name three more times, while reading the latest issue of Rolling Stone. Can't you spot a trend from a mile away? Am I the only one? I will never listen to her music solely based on the fact I am sick of hearing about her, and that, my friends, is an inarguable personal opinion.

Yeah, one of my friend's friend was driving us around Chicago last week. She has way too much money than she knows what to do with. As she was driving around, looking for a 'decent coffee shop' - she was blaring Amy W's new one. I slumped a bit in the seat and thought to myself "this is Amy's target audience."

I'm guessing Feist will soon overtake Rolling Stone's infatuation's with Amy in a few months...

I have never heard an Amy Winehouse song, and I'm going to go out of my way to make sure I never do.

Let me get this straight... You don't like Amy Winehouse because she's successful?

Maybe it's because I don't watch much television or read crappy rags like Rolling Stone, but I'm not even aware of her being over-exposed. If you don't like what the corporate media is feeding ya, don't consume.

If you had said you didn't like Amy W because you think her music sucks, well I could understand that. But you don't like her because she was mentioned like, 3 times in the same issue of the Rolling Stone? OMG!

C'mon, are you REALLY a journalist? 'Cause you come across like some snotty-nosed, pretentious, college DJ.

BTW- Despite popular belief, having a blog does not make you a journalist.

c'mon the grl is a straitup junkie and she is already showing signs of burnout. at her young age that is pretty sad. she has no substance, she is just a delicate, tragic little waif of a woman. as for her music, she can sing pretty well, but personally i don't care for her music. she looks like shit, she needs to pull it together.

Amy Winehouse is going to be the Janis Joplin of our generation. Mark my words. A TRUE rock star, complete with mistakes, pain, flaws and vices. It's what makes us human and it's what makes her an incredible musician. True, snotty, self-righteous rich kids may be into her newest single to hit the Top 40, but she doesn't speak to them - she provides a momentary, mindless sing-a-long while driving around in their escalades. She speaks to those of us who hurt, those of us who cry and fight and have ups and downs, those of us who mess up sometimes. In other words, those of us who are real.

Anyone who claims that Amy Winehouse's target audience is spoiled, excessive rich kids needs to go back through the lyrics and think again, and anyone who chastises her for her drug abuse or various other flaws should be reminded that "may he without sin cast the first stone."

The girl is a fantastic musician and a breath of fresh air in Hollywood's inevitable excess of fake smiles and carefully worded press statements. End of story.

If hearing about Amy winehouse it so frustrating, don't listen. You are cheating yourself, like I knew you would.

You guys amaze me. I cannot agree more with the one poster who said you sound like a bunch of snot-nosed brats.

One can say what one likes about Winehouse, but both of her albums are very very talented. The one is more of a jazz/hiphoppish effort while the other is straight Motown.

Both have edgy, contemporary lyrics and her singing is top notch. If you decide, in all your wisdom, that you don't want to give them a spin just because rolling stone mentioned her a couple of times you're just sad.

Listen to it first, then tell me you won't listen again because you don't like it. That I'll respect.

i just have to say that i heard one of her songs a long time ago, had no idea who the hell she was, and i loved the song! about two weeks ago i actually figured out that the crazy Amy Winehouse was the artist...and i still love the song! personally i couldn't care less how someone acts in real life unles i wanted to be their friend. i don't want to be her friend i want to listen to good music, and thats what she is, a musician. so get over it and if you really want to stop hearing about her don't give into the stupid media and post a damn blog about it! you are just feeding the fire. so to quote some sublime, wantta let burn, watta let burn, wantta, wantta, wantta let it burn!

i think people need to hear music for what it is. amy winehouse can sing. she tells it like it is. i dont care about her life and what she does, she's a rock star, and as for being a junkie, thats her buisness. sex drugs and rockin roll baby, what happened to the 60s', 70s', 80s'? good times. thats when music was music. amy is just one of those chicks that you love her music and your interestd in her life becuase she's not ur typical hollywood glamour fake bitch. she's a hard core real chick, thats got the talent to sing her ass off! if people dont like her, dont pay attention to what is said about her, the media always blows things up more then thay should be, and people who ahve nothing better to do with thier time but talk shit about how fucked up celebraties are and thats suppose to make them feel like they are better them because thier shit itsnt but on blast, but im pretty sure everyone has smoked a ciggartte, a joint, had a little to much to drink, sniff some coke, i know i have, but im not better then anyone else. but hey everyone is intitled to have thier own opinion, but if your judging music dont judge the singer for how they live, listen to their music and see if it moves you regardless who sings it. if it does, thats all soul and feeling a natural high just living in a song. peace!
